It was as though I was standing in the middle of a scene from the movie The Wedding Planner and Jennifer Lopez would walk by me any minute. The center aisle had to be six feet wide… exactly six feet. The chairs needed to be aligned perfectly. The unity candles…. must not forget the unity candles! Within ten minutes of arriving at the wedding ceremony location the set up was in full-force, everything was flowing smoothly and just like Jennifer Lopez, the wedding coordinator was every bit of poised and collected.
Marcella, of Events By Marcella, and I first spoke a few days prior to the wedding day and instantly hit it off. With her vibrant personality and my loud ways we were a match made in wedding obsessed heaven, for real. I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with her and help photograph the lovely wedding she had been coordinating and was so excited for. Over the next few days we exchanged emails and text messages to make sure the game plan was set and that the wedding was an experience the amazing bride and groom would never forget. Because it was their big day… and it was all about them
Now… a word of advise to anyone who is planning a wedding: working with a coordinator is definitely the way to go! Having the opportunity to see first hand the “behind-the-scenes” work needed to prepare for a wedding and how the lovely Marcella handled every situation without ever interrupting the bride definitely made me want to sport a “Team Wedding Planner” t-shirt. It is such a big day, not only for the couple, but for their family and friends as well. Having someone else take the lead allows the wedding party and guests to be present the entire day and simply enjoy the moment.
The day went off without a hitch and turned out beautifully. While Marcella and her assistant coordinated with vendors and organized the guests, the lovely bride was busy being fabulous, enjoying her day and even indulging in a little girl time…
Helping our friends during their big day is great…. but we would much rather be right by their side to gush over the ring and refer to them as “Mrs.” Holla!
